Overview

Les Bains du Lotus occupies an Art Deco riad on Arset Aouzal in the Bab Doukkala quarter, a fairly large wellness space described by locals as a proper temple of well-being. The building, Riad Lotus Perle, has been entirely given over to the spa, and the interior combines Art Deco lines with Moroccan detailing. A central courtyard with jewel-coloured seating and the sound of water sets the mood on arrival, where guests are welcomed with detox juice or a green smoothie before being shown to the changing rooms. The hammam menu is clearly tiered. The Bain Express is a straightforward eucalyptus black soap scrub with kessa glove. The Bain Authentique adds a ghassoul wrap, a sugar-and-lemon exfoliation for hands and feet, a hair treatment, and a gel douche rinse. The Royal Lotus Bath extends further with an argan soap stage, a scalp mask, and a face mask. Each hammam can be combined with a massage in one of the ritual packages, ranging from a 50-minute relaxation session to a 90-minute immersion, with an optional facial for those who want the full circuit. Massages are available independently too, and the list is unusually broad: a relaxing Détente à l'Orientale with argan oil, a tonic massage with orange blossom or rosemary, candle massage using warm vegetable and essential oils, warm herb pouch massage, hot stone, a four-hand Royal Lotus, and a six-hand Divine Lotus where the number of simultaneous contact points is designed to overwhelm the senses into surrender. Targeted options cover back, legs, foot reflexology, and a face-and-scalp modelage. There is also a dedicated programme for children aged four to nine. Between treatments, the rooftop terrace overlooking the Medina provides a quiet spot to sit with mint tea, fruit, and candied treats. Products are natural and locally sourced: argan oil, rosemary, orange blossom. The spa is spacious enough to handle groups comfortably, and the team are well trained, with particularly strong reviews for the hammam attendants and masseuses. The Bab Doukkala location puts it within easy reach of local restaurants and the neighbourhood market.
