Overview

Le Bain Bleu occupies two levels within Riad Dar Justo, a 14th-century house in the Mouassine quarter rebuilt over a decade by Spanish artist Justo Almendros. The spa has its own entrance, independent from the hotel, and opens to non-guests. The design is pared-back and elegant: neutral tones, noble wood, tadelakt walls, and blue mosaic detailing that gives the space its name. Engravings and soft lighting set a mood that feels more gallery than spa, which suits a building conceived by a painter and sculptor. The hammam menu is well structured. The Beldi Signature begins with a soqla mask before the classic sequence of eucalyptus black soap scrub, aromatic herb ghassoul body mask, foot scrub, citrus soaping, and an orange blossom shampoo. Lighter options run from 30 to 55 minutes. Upgraded rituals add a desert salt and orange blossom body scrub with rose clay wrap, or combine the full hammam with an argan oil massage. Massages include a draining argan treatment, hot stone with sesame oil, and a four-hand option. Facials lean on Moroccan ingredients: sesame and orange exfoliant, honey and saffron mask, and a relaxing modelage. Beauty treatments, hairstyling, and a full duo package with a three-course Moroccan meal round out the offering. What distinguishes Le Bain Bleu in a crowded market is its eco-conscious operation. All hammam water is heated by 152 square metres of solar panels and stored in a large reserve. Products are exclusively organic and Moroccan-made: argan oil, black soap, rose clay. All therapists are formally trained and licensed in aesthetics, a detail that shows in the consistency of the treatments. The spa can accommodate more than ten guests at once across its multiple hammams and massage cabins, making it a workable option for groups or celebrations. Three minutes' walk from Jemaa el-Fna, in one of the Medina's most accessible quarters, Le Bain Bleu manages to feel both considered and unpretentious: a hammam with a conscience, designed by an artist, and quietly run on sunlight.
