Overview
Dar Housnia occupies two connected buildings in the Medina, a traditional riad and a douiria, both restored with the sober precision that suits their Arab-Andalusian bones. Four suites on the upper floors are arranged around the central courtyard that runs the riad's daily life: tea served mid-morning, breakfast laid out without urgency, the afternoon light moving across the tadelakt walls as the hours shift. The douiria adds two bedrooms with a private terrace and lounge, useful for those who want the house rather than a room. A rooftop terrace swimming pool offers a view over the Medina and the Atlas Mountains at a distance that makes both feel simultaneously intimate and vast. The roof terrace itself is layered with bougainvillea, succulents, and cacti, the planting dense enough to provide both colour and shade. Downstairs, cosy salons with open hearths and a hammam with massage room round out the vertical experience of the building. Artwork placed throughout the rooms and corridors gives each space its own identity without becoming decorative noise. Dar Housnia is the kind of Medina property where closing the front door on the city produces an immediate physical response: the shoulders drop, the ambient temperature shifts, and the fountain in the courtyard becomes the loudest thing in range The roof garden of succulents and cacti rewards a quiet hour in the late afternoon, the Atlas Mountains shifting colour as the sun drops behind the Palmeraie.
