Overview

The terrace at Kabana sits level with the Marrakech skyline, close enough to the Koutoubia that the minaret anchors the view from the best seats. The space has made a deliberate aesthetic commitment: rattan furniture, hanging greenery, and wax-print textiles assembled under open sky at the edge of the Medina. Tropical in palette, Moroccan in setting, the combination has its own internal logic and its own energy. By day, the pace is unhurried. The cocktail list moves between classics and inventive originals, with local Moroccan ingredients folded into several of the recipes. As afternoon tips toward evening, the tempo shifts. Candles appear, the city settles into its nightly rhythm below, and the sound system steps up. On weekends, Kabana pulls toward something more deliberate. The first DJ sets arrive with the last of the sunlight and the rooftop transitions into a kind of open-air gathering that the Medina rarely offers. The proximity to the Koutoubia gives the space a quality of scale that most surrounding rooftops lack. The mosque anchors the view and sets a visual rhythm against which everything else unfolds. Aperitif hour here has a particular weight. The cocktails hold attention, the terrace fills with purpose, and the city spreads out below in every shade of ochre and terracotta. On evenings when DJ sets are running and the light is gone from the sky, Kabana becomes something else: a rooftop with genuine energy, rare in this part of the Medina.
